You’ll be working in a small team with a product owner to develop and drive our CES Selector and CES EduPack software products, used by world leading companies and over a thousand universities and colleges.

We are passionate about creating software to the best of our ability and work hard to understand our users need, working with autonomy but collaboratively on all aspects from initial UI design through to testing. What our developers do We mostly develop in C# and C++ on Visual Studio, and provide all developers with an MSDN subscription and a ReSharper license. We have a no-blame peer review culture, with the aim of encouraging excellence, improvement and learning. We use GitHub for version control, and mostly follow the github-flow model. We work closely with product owners to define features and priorities, allowing us to get involved in understanding our customer needs and balancing them against development costs. We use Agile processes and have daily stand-ups and regular retrospectives to keep us honest and transparent.

We take continuous improvement seriously and everyone’s opinion is valid and listened to. We use Jira to host a Kanban board, and show both that and our TeamCity build status on a team radiator.

Find out more about software engineering at Granta Design here: What you will work on The CES ecosystem is comprised of a Windows application, web content, and integrated with a CRM and analytics platform. Some of the things you might be doing: • Developing and refining existing Windows UIs with WPF (MVVM), MFC and HTML5/Angular JS. • Building scientific models in a TDD process to support material selection within a variety of Engineering industries, using C++ and C#. • Developing infrastructure for integration with external services such as MS Azure and Dynamics CRM, using C# and ASP.NET.

• Building a robust and scalable analytics data pipeline, including telemetry collection, ETL and data analysis, using Azure, Power BI, Power Query and R. Requirements We value a range of skills. It has been developed by Granta Design in collaboration with the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, University of Cambridge (UK), and Barcelona (UPC). The Workshop will be led by Dr.

Claes Fredriksson, who is a Senior Materials Education Consultant responsible for Training at Granta Design in Cambridge (UK). He has more than 15 years’ experience teaching Materials-related subjects to undergraduate and post graduate students in Sweden, Canada, Belgium and the U.S.A, mainly in Mechanical Engineering. After gaining an MSc in Engineering Physics and PhD in Theoretical Physics he worked in both theoretical and experimental research on polymers, metals and biomaterials (at Chalmers). He has a passion for teaching and won a grant as part of Sweden’s Excellence in Teaching Programme to enable him to teach in the U.S.A. And facilitate the cross-pollination of pedagogical approaches.

Claes is an Associate Professor and works with academics across the world, collaborating on producing teaching resources and running CES EduPack training. Luca Masi is an Aerospace Engineer working at Granta Design as Senior Business Development Manager. He has run materials selection short courses at universities (Georgia Tech, Northwestern University, Boston University, UC Irvine) and conferences (TMS, ASEE). Before joining Granta, he has collaborated with the French Space Agency on software development for bio-inspired space trajectory optimization, and on computational techniques for multi-objective optimization as part of his PhD at the Advanced Space Concepts Laboratory, University of Strathclyde (UK). He is author of several peer-reviewed publications and book chapters for AIAA and IEEE on these subjects.

He also has R&D industrial experience in spacecraft propulsion systems. Luca also holds a Master’s Degree (first class) in Space Engineering and a Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Pisa (Italy). Hannah Melia. Hannah Melia leads the Teaching Resources Team at Granta Design and has responsibility for the development of CES EduPack and associated teaching resources. She has a degree in Materials Science and Metallurgy and a Post Graduate Certificate in Design, Manufacturing and Management from the University of Cambridge. She has worked in the United States and Germany on medical device design and technology transfer. Over the last eight years she has interacted with academics that use CES EduPack around the world.
